The Stage Poem by Sana Olivia Hernandez

The Stage

The stage I've made where my memories cascade.

There is love,
And fun,
And occasionally rage.

The songs I sing,
The energy I bring,
All influence the show.

I'm talking about my life, you know?

Now, you may see it diffrently.
It's your life that you know.

We have no control in life.
Are there exceptions?
No.

Still,
I'll sing its songs,
I'll dance its dance.
And go with my life's rhythmic flow...

This is a wonderfully positive poem, it doesn't indulge in special pleading or empty overstatement. It stays close to the metaphor of the stage of life which creates a solid backbone for the rest of the poem, especially the confident expression of life perceived of as an artistic performance which displays effort, curiosity, gratitude, and of course song and dance. The second time I read this I could really appreciate the uplift of spirits it conveys. Mine were, and still are!
