The Spirit Of Christmas Poem by Natarajan Ramaseshan

The Spirit Of Christmas

Merrily chimed the steeple bell
It's Christmas Day, for me to tell.
Praise our dear Lord, come one, come all.
Pleased to extend this welcome call'

The cake with its lovely icing
Came there and said, 'I'm the nice thing.
The Baby likes me as I am sweet.
I am the king of Christmas treat'

The Christmas tree, green and graceful
But in a loud voice so forceful
Quoth 'I am the one who counts more
For all decorations in store'

Colourful balloon bloated with ego
Bragged it was festival's logo.
The shining star which hung from roof
Claimed all the limelight citing proof.

The carol afloat the chill breeze
Softly and gently and with ease
Sang its self praise and joined the race
'I'm the one who earns the Lord's grace'

The Santa dressed in scarlet red
And snow white cap entered and said,
'God's Son was born to prevent sin.
On this special day, why this din?

He has given you pride of place
To serve Him now in your own ways.
All of us are only His tools.
It's He who does and He who rules.

Spirit of Christmas, let me tell
Loving, giving, forgiving well.
Hearts that pray and love small and great,
Hands that help open Heaven's gate! '

Words of wisdom soon had effect
They joined and sang in tune perfect,
'oh dear Lord! bless all, then bless us;
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
