The Spirit Of Christmas Poem by Jeremy Patnou

The Spirit Of Christmas

Time shifts
and seasons change
the time of year is here again,
christnas time once more.
Lights all aglow
trees in homes glisten,
sounds of the season on
before their due time had come.
Santa and his 8
Shopping malls with pretty decoration,
Commercalism
in spite of a collapsing economy
buy buy buy
sell sell sell
what does it matter its all going to hell...
Our country, its up its down
left right, all around
no consistency to be found.
How did Christmas ever come,
from the manger in Bethlehem
to this?
The spirit of Christmas
the real message from eternity,
lost in a shroud of mist...
Santa is not salvation
Grace is not found wrapped in a box
Eternal love never to be seen at the shopping mall
No christmas display
outshines his glory.
Dont loose sight
it can be believed
everything is corruptable,
even the Christmas season.
No, not all of our joy in folly is bad,
not wrong even.
Only if we become lost
in the merriment
as to forget the reason we gather this season
to praise him
as the angels and shepards did
on that first christmas day
the first gift was given that day,
the gift was life.
