The Sparrow And The Wolf Poem by Hunter P. Vallance

The Sparrow And The Wolf

Rating: 3.8

As the wolf lies low,
Waiting for his prey
The sparrow sings alone,
Longing for the next day.

Returning from the hunt the wolf gazes, long and low
At the meadows, high and below
As if yearning for an endless repose.

As the sparrow rose high, taking flight,
She remained untouched by the night.
Beginning to dance; engulfed by moonlight
She became entranced with delight.

Sitting alone, in a vale of ethereal silence
The wolf hears the sparrow singing,
As it begins to haunt him
Like a constant ringing.

Looking to drown his deathly violence,
With his calm, soft silence
He searches long, for her tranquil song.

As the sparrow met the wolf
She told her sad, but peaceful story
And as he heard the eurythmic beat
The wolf looked, as if wanting to slowly move his feet.

The sparrow flew down to greet him,
Without fear, for life or limb
As she lightly took his hand,
Guiding him over the land.

To a place, where they would so sweetly dance.

An excellent poem that is so soothing! The last line is so comforting. The tranquility of songs and music touches even the hardest heart and inspires it to shun violence, ferocity and deceitfulness. Soft melody thaws the coldest heart. Let's all sing songs of love in a chorus!
