The Songs Of The Night Poem by Ray Hansell

The Songs Of The Night

As you close your eyes to sleep
You’ll hear songs in the night
You’ll hear the leaves as they rustle
From a summer breeze so light

You’ll hear the sound of falling rain
Thunder that echo’s in the night
But you’ll be safe inside your home
Even if lightning strikes

You’ll hear the cars on the wet roads
As they speed on by
Far off in the distance
You may hear planes in the sky

The songs of the night
Play for you and I
That’s why we try our best
To try to get some shut eye
