The Song Plays On Poem by Oduro Bright Amoh

The Song Plays On

Rating: 4.5

The song plays on
The acoustic sadness echoes in the chills
Memories clamour to pierce old scars
I wish a sad tear may escape or two
But tears, traitors!
They have deserted the needy in pursuit of crocodiles.
The sadness echoes on
Sad, sad words.
Heart after heartbeat the echoes beat
She is away, she is gone, she won't be back.
Only her memory remains
And this sad, sad, sad, song.

The song plays on
And memories nod to the soulful sorrowful tune
A sad recollection of happier times,
A sullen attempt to wake a joyful spirit.
A blink of an eye. Aha! An honest tear.
Two. A third one. Now it's raining pain.
The trees are happy, they know no broken hearts.
Broken branches and falling leaves?
That makes a lot of us.
The sad voice still sings the sad song.
Memories now sing along.
She is away, she is gone, she won't be back
Only her memory remains
And this sad, sad, sad song.
