The Song Of A Prisoned Girl Poem by Marisa Eutsler

The Song Of A Prisoned Girl

The song of a prisoned daughter
Is not a pound of a drum?
But the fast heartbeat out of fear

The song of a prisoned daughter
Is not the strum of a guitar?
But the demons within her mind

The song of a prisoned daughter
Is not a smile upon her face?
But thousands of tears falling like rain

The song of a prisoned daughter
Is not the joy in her voice?
But the pain in her movement

The song of a prisoned daughter
You see, is not a song at all
It’s silence.
