The Smiling Doll And The Downing Of Malaysian Airlines Flight Mh 17 Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

The Smiling Doll And The Downing Of Malaysian Airlines Flight Mh 17

Amidst the debris I could spot a soft smile
Emanating from the doll that once belonged to a child,
A child who had lost her young and precious life
In the blinding darkness of senseless strife.

The heavenly flight to a flourishing city
Unfortunately became the epicenter of our consternation and pity,
For it was brought down by a missile unleashed from hell
By a so-called civilized human race that upon the earth dwell!

Amidst the debris the doll still holds a lifeless smile
As if mocking at humanity's follies, vices and wiles-
But if such catastrophe don't teach us a lesson
Has mankind not condemned itself to a life of treason?

Thoughtful write based on unfortunate incident that took away the innocent lives. I still remember the doll which was shown in T.V. Really, never they knew, this could be their last flight of life. Sounds Pathetic.. Beautiful way you have captured the image in your poem.
