The Sky Is Falling Poem by Juan Olivarez

The Sky Is Falling

Rating: 5.0

The sky is falling the chicken said,
A piece of sky fell on my head.
And there were tears in her beady eyes,
As she rolled them upward to the skies.

Tiny chicken feathers came floating down,
From out the sky without a sound.
Chicken felt the lump upon her head,
And wished she was lying in her old straw bed.

Then she saw the egg so smooth and round,
not at all oval, on the grass covered ground.
She said that's the funniest egg I've ever seen,
I'm making them round, I'm an egg laying queen.

Chickens are stupid and that is a fact,
Especially chickens that have taken a whack.
They'll believe anything and will make things up,
Especially chickens that get hit on the top.

So she took the egg home, and placed it in her nest,
And tried to hatch it along with the rest.
All the other ones hatched, the round one is there still,
The baseball she found, outside minute maid field.
