The Sin Of Sloth Poem by Professor Poetry Hound

The Sin Of Sloth

Sloth is one of the neglected sins.

While the spotlight is focused on the heavyweight
sins like greed and gluttony, sloth is off relaxing in
the shadows.

Almost everyone can feel good about themselves
for not being slothful. I mean, everyone is slothful a
little bit. But it’s almost impossible to be a total sloth.
When was the last time you said, “That guy is a total
sloth? ”

Hey, I think sloth is a kind of animal, isn’t it? Yeah,
the three-toed sloth. I wonder how they feel about
being the embodiment of sin.

I think Jesus should remove sloth from the sin list.
At the very least, stop calling it a “deadly” sin. It’s only
deadly if you never get up. Try to picture a person
living in sloth. My picture is of an unshaven guy in a
dirty shirt lying on the floor with a pizza box and beer
cans strewn about. It’s a frat house! You know how in
cartoons, after a guy is hit on the head with a mallet,
his eyes looks like little x’s? Well, that’s what this slothy
guy has – little x’s for eyes.

You almost never think of a woman when you think
of sloth. You should. I think of the fat lady in the circus
as being slothful. I don’t know why. I’ve never seen the
inside of her trailer but I’ll bet it’s a big mess.
