The Silent Sentinel Poem by Christopher Nicoll

The Silent Sentinel

For eons passed he has seen all
Oh what tales he could have told

Since ancient time antiquity
He has watched all that is and all that will be

He has watched beasts roam, both large and small
Those that now stand only in your museum halls

He has seen ancient structures built tall and grand
Still considered wondrous across all the lands

Whether for good, time shall see
As he watches the rise of humanity

The future he will see
Long after they shall cease to be

And for centuries of wonder and staring
You have recently visited Him for knowledge, sharing

Regardless of the future outcome,
He shall continue to watch … that Silent One
