The Shannon Flow Poem by Matt Mooney

The Shannon Flow

The Shannon’s face-
Unwrinkled as ever
Like the new milk
We knew in a basin,
By Gleann Chorbraí;
The sun after rising
Prances and dances
On our uisce beatha.
Silver now its sheen
Between the low hills;
Its banks along define
The way it can be one
With its gigantic sea.

Notes:
(uisce beatha= ‘water of life’
Béal= ‘mouth’
Gleann Chorbraí=Glin.)
