Oh the sweet serenity I find is sacred silence
In that deep and ancient dark of night
I drink it’s calming essence
Let it take away my sight

The peace found in this darkness
The silence in the dark
I’ve yet to find it’s likeness
And the contrast is so stark

In the light the others run
Like rats set in a maze
Underneath the light of the sun
Beneath it’s fiery gaze

But in the night there are but few
Who sit and ponder so
Who until the morning dew
Enjoy the peace in the shadow

Oh the sweet serenity
The sweet kiss of the night
My respite from the insanity
That occurs beneath the light
