The Sega Of Seychelles Poem by .... Chetty

The Sega Of Seychelles

I fell in love in Seychelles, he kissed me under the coconut tree of Anse-Aux-Pins
I loved him too much that it hurt

He asked of me “cheri, shoushou promise me you will return? promise me your love! ! ! Oh cheri Je t’aime”

He stood outside my bedroom window,
He wrote he loved me on my window seal
He promised me his love, he promise me he will wait for an eternity
The tears I made him cry suffered my heart

I fall asleep on the white sand of Anse-aux-pins, remembering his words.
oh how I long to see him! ! ! ! !

But tonight mama, I can see the fire wood smoke running towards my direction
Sorry mama but I hear the drum beating
It beats to the rhythm of my heart
I am sorry mama but I must follow it

I love him! ! ! ! I love him! ! !

I can hear him mama he is calling me
I can hear the drums of sega;
He plays it for me mama
He plays it so loud for me
I tried to forget him but I couldn’t forget
I tried so hard not to care, but he had me at hello

The fire wood is burning; I can see the smoke floating on the stars of Anse-Boileau. I must follow like all lovers do.
I must go mama, I am a Seychellois, and it’s in my blood I must follow

He promised me; yes he promised me his love
I told him “Je’taime! ! ! ! ! ”

I told him “cheri, dou dou, I give you my love! ”

Oh mama I am sorry
I can hear the drum beating
It is beating through my heart
I can hear him calling me

The drums of sega is calling my name
