The Second Bomb Poem by Percy Dovetonsils

The Second Bomb

the second bomb
was dropped
to show
that the first
was no accident.

Portuguese traders
were allowed
a perch
in Nagasaki
centuries before.

This was the first mistake.

If only Japan
had kept its doors shut
forever,
it wouldn't have invaded
Manchuria,
wouldn't have raped
Nanking,
wouldn't have taken
Indochina, Indonesia,
Formosa, and the Philippines;
Tokyo, Yokohoma, and Osaka
wouldn't have been
firebombed,

and the first bomb
would not have been dropped
to show
that the second bomb
was no
accident.
