The Search Poem by Hazel Durham

The Search

Rating: 4.9

Searching for the lost moments that are uplifting my emotions,
Like a shooting star, flashing so brightly,
Across the darkened skies,
Searching for the truth in the magnitude of lies,
My heart is dancing on it's own, in a very lonely place,
Searching for your strong and smiling face,
Among the multitude of people, striding along the city streets,
At such a fast pace.
Searching for the trees, stretching and reaching out
To my surviving soul, struggling with life's demands,
Searching to hear you shout
Out my name, across the wide margins,
Searching for your acceptance,
But I'm like a fish without any fins,
Falling, falling to the secretive depths,
Of the bottom of the sea,
Searching relentlessly for the reality,
Of you and me!

We are all seekers.... we search for something that gives meaning and purpose to our lives. Often it is like running after a mirage... the nearer we reach to have it in our hold, it slips away and stays ever elusive. The shooting star represents your restless spirit and the bottom of the sea- the unfathomable mysteries of life.... Very powerful images, Hazel!

A great philosophic poem. We try to search the truth sitting on the center and we are confined in a circle. If we manage to press the circle and reform it in an ellipse the center will split in the two foci and we know that an ellipse is the locus of a point that moves so that sum of its distances from two fixed points remains always the same. Ellipse of thinking balances our thoughts. I have tried to explain it in my poem - An Ellipse and a Circle..............10

It's a bad place to be Hazel, searching for the truth. Been there myself. Another heartfelt piece of writing. Well done.
