The Same Old Moon Poem by Daisy Pereira

The Same Old Moon

I have been seeing the same old moon
from the days of my childhood
till this date
once he looked like a lamb
fleece flying high
always accompanied me
most uncomplaining companion

Then I saw people on it
when somebody threw hail and ice cubes on me
nobody believed me though
and I saw only moon
laughing at me from above

The saddened days of my dreamhood passed by
youth and solitude always
accompanied each other
once again I looked upon the moon
the samestead moon
he watched and cared
sighed and loved
melancholy
sleepless
sad and quite
just remained there
hovering.

Dreamless I watch
the vain days
sloth evenings
always starred moon
smiled the same...

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
there was a time when the moon was my childhood friend. even though science has told me that moon is a dark lifeless matter I still feel the warmth and love overflowing from the moon on a full moon day..
