The Saga Of Ill Fate Poem by George Ahaneku

The Saga Of Ill Fate

Thank you Lord for the grace
To put smiles on people's face
While I wallow in shame and disgrace
Even for a stranger I bow to undo his lace
Have I not with a pure and true heart
Guided the timid through to the noble path
Yet I wallow in anonymity disdain and doubt
In painful disqualification I am tossed about
Have you not reproved me enough and now I fear
Like a piece of worn out cloth I tear

Have I blasphemed what is the likeness of my crime
Even now Lord tell me what is the measure of my time
Give me reasons do not give me choice
In perfect clarity make me hear Your voice
My life goes on in an endless song
I wonder where.... Did I go wrong
Have I achieved a goal or a dream that easy
Yet for the good of others I've been very busy
Suit the pain of strangers and my resources waste
Till lack and penury impair my sense of taste

How my zealous heart has been tainted
With no explanations so often I've fainted
They keep on asking
Inquirers are asking
You are throwing stones at me I am already wounded
What good is reproof when a man is wounded
How can I tell of all my sorrows
Let it be how can you know my sorrows
Who is here let him listen to me
Thus have a knowledge of the lot that has befallen me
Let someone amongst you now ask
Is there an end to the saga of an ill fate
Then give my example
And present my case.....

Heartfelt, thought provoking...... Coming from a soul that is in pain
