The Sacrifice Of Beauty Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

The Sacrifice Of Beauty

More exigent
Than the sacrifice of
Abraham
When after long years
Wasting for a child
He held his only Isaac
All his all
On the altar rough
And raised
The unwilling knife
Of broken heart
Then broke the heavens
And
There was Voice
With held the hand of
Such a sacrifice
Minerva and the Muse
Sweating pale-faced
Had witnessed fearful
The sacrifice to Beauty.
