The River Returns To The Sea Poem by Maria J. Andrade

The River Returns To The Sea

I do not fault you.
If I have forgiven myself,
why not you?
Who can see the depths of a life,
the movements, the subtleties of harm
which make for consequence?

The river returns to the sea.

But you and I,
yes you and I were dreaming all the while,
and now we take off the outer garments
and see in our reflection - the same face.

The river returns to the sea.

There in the forest is a clearing,
light falls and shimmers like jewels on glass,
you will be free soon, very soon,
and we will heal each other
from the stinging void.

The river returns to the sea.

I like this very much Maria, the clearing in the forest is a place I know, and also your flowing river reminds me of the piece by PB Shelley, good work. 'The fountains mingle with the rivers The rivers with the ocean The winds of heaven mix together With a sweet emotion. Nothing in the world is single All things by a law divine In another’s being mingle Why not I with thine? ' P B Shelley

Nice imagery and a pleasant way of looking at this and kowning that healing will come. The secret I think is being able to forgive oneself. Nothing else can really follow until that happens. I know those who say they trust God but still don't trust that God has forgiven them even after receiving God's forgiveness, all the time still feeling guilty and unforgiven.
