The Ring Of Lonliness Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

The Ring Of Lonliness

Stillness has a ring to it
if you listen hard enough
The deafening sound of lonliness
when things get rough

Candlelight casts erie shadows
and reflections
and my own thoughts too go
in every direction

They settle on a vision of you
My friend
I long for your softness and sweetness
from afar

Oh how this moment I wish
you could somehow be near
With you by my side
there would be no fear

A man is nothing without love
If you love a man for his heart
and give him your affection
he'll never part

But tonight it's the sound of silence
broken only by an occasional car
whose rollling wheels sound
louder as they approach from afar

And trail off as they depart
Like love comes and goes
and seems long in-between
as lonliness in it's place grows

'till it breaks your heart
and your spirit too
and leaves you broken
and feeling so blue

Your last thought
Before you drag yourself to restless sleep
is that woman you met online
the one who was so kind and sweet

After you've climbed the stairs
and are nestled in bed
that thought of her lingers
and dances in your head

Dreams come and go
and some fade away
But some are beginnings
Determined to find a way

That simple thought
Is the only hope that you hold
You hope love finds you somehow
before your story's end is told
