The Real World Poem by Lauren Meredith Gould

The Real World

Sex, drugs, and cocoa puffs.
Rock stars, movie stars, super stars
They have had more than enough

Getting wasted, drinking some wine
It doesn't matter at all,
As long as you get signed

Drums, guitars and bass,
It doesn't matter where you play,
As long as it's the right place.

Hitting the big screen, getting the big part,
Memorizing lines,
And getting all dressed up

Winning awards, being a nominee
Seeing movie stars at their best,
Seeing them smile, finally being almost happy

These days, it's about being at the top
And getting practically famous,
Even though some day you'll be at the bottom,
And you will just finally drop
