The Raven In Your Slumber Poem by Erika Michelle

The Raven In Your Slumber

fall asleep
dream something sweet
but dont dream about me.

fall into slumber
fall into bliss
so i wont have to miss...

that smile of yours
which caused mine
which made the sun to shine.

now i live in the night
where i can fall into shadow
underneath your branches over

my head which slumbers
but there is no bliss
yet i still miss..

the absence of a hand that was never there
the voice ive never heard
the touch that would burn..

at the sight of thunder my heart will heal
at the sound of the twig i will snap.
i fall apart in your lap.

in the roots i lay
broken and scarred.
but i have nothing left but my heart.

so fall asleep
and dream something sweet.
but dont dream of me.

im only the monster under your bed
im only the nightmare in your head
dont search and you wont find.

im the raven in your branches
im the claw in your heart
im the pulse in your hands.

forget me
and you'll sleep just fine.
let me go and i'll fly.

go to sleep,
dream something sweet,
but not of the raven in your mind.

i sit quietly in your branches
still as the shadows as i watch you sleep
dreaming of me

fall into slumber
fall into bliss
and ill keep the nightmares away...
