The Rage And The Rhetoric Poem by Shalom Freedman

The Rage And The Rhetoric

THE RAGE AND THE RHETORIC

The rage and the rhetoric
These I need
Something to take me beyond my own poor plain soul
And lift me to the world of metaphor
I am an old plain song singer-But you know
I can be moved-

There is so much hurt in the world
And so much pain
And so much stupid injustice
That I too can be hurt into poetry-

Oh God let me write at last
As if I were like
Your angered mercy-loving Voice
