The Question (2005) Poem by Lillian B. Rose

The Question (2005)

Here I sit as you wander on by
Blind to the misbeat as I hold my breath
Blinking in surprize when words find my ear
I don't think you contemplate me
As my wary state of nerves
Masks what you don't see
The reasons for so long hidden deep
Inside a heart struggling to make
Its intentions resound like the echoing
Of the canyon in the early morning dawn
So do I have the will in me
To reach for a star, finding comfort
In a loving pair of arms
Or must I again hide my face in shame
Feeling I can do no better
As you turn to walk away

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Lillian, this is a very heartfelt poem. You ask questions in here that we as women ask ourselves everyday, even when we are in a stable relationship. The last three lines, are what make this poem really go. Thank you for sharing. Love & hugs, Barbara
