The Promise Poem by Christine Natale

The Promise

Will you go with me a-wandering
Across the summer fields?
We may find ourselves a-wandering
Through green and fragrant woods.

Will you go with me a -wandering
By a silver river’s song?
Just the two of us a-wandering
Through a wild violet dawn.

Will you go with me a-wandering
Upon a mountain’s side?
Shall we find ourselves a-wandering
Where golden eagles glide?

Will you go with me a-wandering
Where salt winds kiss the sand;
And we meet a child wandering
With seashells in her hand?

Will you go with me a-wandering
I will promise only this -
That when we cease our wandering
I’ll leave you with a kiss.
