# # The Prize Poem by Sonya Florentino

# # The Prize

Rating: 3.0

I have nothing to prove to anyone
I am neither proud nor ashamed
I will run at my pace
I’m not in a race
The road is mine to climb

I don’t need to win over anyone
I’m not fighting for the prize
I just have to claim what I had lost
to the other side
To get back what I had lost through time
To win back what is rightfully mine

There sure are some well hidden emotional springs underlying this; the bedrock that is the basis of the determination. One has no doubt that the outcome will be precisely as planned..(smile)

This poem races along with the staunch determination of an athlete - and certainly deserves 'The Prize'. A multi-layered and thought provoking read, with attitude! S :)

Makes me want to slow down and realize that lif is not a race to the finish but a gentle glide, a slow gait to enjoy what life has to offer in Nature, people, and all the emotions therein.

Your prize is in your pride...your pride is in your words...your words in your poem...your poem in pride wins my prize... Hope, hop-step- and jumping over despair pit...a prize jump...good work...10
