The Poems Were Forgotten Today Poem by Shalom Freedman

The Poems Were Forgotten Today

The poems were forgotten today
Perhaps tomorrow
There too will be other things
The poems are not everything
But today is not over
And I have remembered them again
They may not mean everything
But to me
They are certainly very much-

A poem is a message of feeling
It is the words of the soul
Now in the long evening
After the longer day
The words return
The poems return
And I am a soul again.
