The Plastic Swan And Rubber Duck Poem by Jay Alexander

The Plastic Swan And Rubber Duck

(Inspired by Jeff Koons)

The other day I climbed out of my bath
What I saw almost made me laugh,
My majestic Silver Swan collided
With a yellow rubber duck beside it,
The duck seemed a bit annoyed,
For being treated "hoi polloi ",
But when my back was turned,
I fear something happened;
I looked again, not anticipating,
My beautiful swan slowly deflating,
He was sinking fast, it grabbed my heart,
Like the Titanic but with a burbling fart;
The duck swam by, with a glint in his eye;
What had he done to make my swan die?
