The Place Where There Is No Darkness Poem by Garry Stanton

The Place Where There Is No Darkness

Shall we meet in the place
Where there is no darkness?
Where the light is white,
No corners concealed

Can we meet in that place
Where there can be no darkness,
Where colours are strange
Our darkness revealed.

Watching
Always watching
Smiling
Grins of broken dreams.

As you lie back
Poison in your veins
And falling
Falling
So your mind is left behind.

You would turn your face
To the wall
If you could

Turn to the wall
Forget it all
Your face a canvas
a willing palimpsest

Shall we meet in the place
Where there is no darkness?
Where the light is white,
No corners concealed

Can we meet in that place
Where there can be no darkness,
Where colours are strange
Our darkness revealed.

Feel the years dropp down
The back of the furniture
Feel the drain of life
Down the sink of the future.
