The Pines Of Strathalbyn

Bonjour, Dominique.

Two perquisites of poetry

are wishful thinking

and drawing a long bow,

the meaning of which,

after this, you will know:

Their nerves,

stretched by the cackling

and lack of concern

of the peril

killing the pines in their park,

put the people of Strath

uppermost amongst the most grateful

to the United States and China

for keeping their coal in the ground,

and amongst the angriest

at Australia

for ripping out as much as it can

and selling it

before the inevitable worldwide ban.

Amitiés, Doug
