The Pen's Errand Poem by Idris Adesina

The Pen's Errand

Has it reached you?
Yes, you the readers
Did it say my words to you?
They are for the wicked leaders.

Potentates who act as though
They are ignorant of our pains
They shall reap all they sow
They too will have their gains
Those who think the tears on eyes
Will blind us from their lies.

But tell them my dear pen!
Tell them all you learn!
And fear not their arms,
Tell them a thousand times.
Say to the errand boy, And
Fear not the head on his land

Tell these selfish leaders
on the thrones of our fathers
Teach them not to be rulers but leaders
Tell them we espy their evil plans,
Manifesto they say, with different plans.
Haste hard, ho innocent spirit!
Thou art an unhindered spirit.

Say: that we might be killed,
But our visions live and breathe
in our angry heirs, the-new-blood
Who knock the door to this world.
They will change our illusion to vision
And ours shall be their missions
Like the sunshine after rain
They will take away our pain

And when this new-birth comes:

Fall shall be their evil tower
They thought they're blessed with our power
Fall shall be their evil power
And freedom shall come to the people
Their power shall return to them
And the lost Glory of the people,
Shall come to live with them;
With all men, children and women.
And thou shall rest then my dear Pen.
