The Other Side Of Paradise Poem by Roy Roger Hackers

The Other Side Of Paradise

On our street's we see them day by day
Knights of the road hanging on to zero
We watch, stare but don't really care
For the life of the downtrodden hero

They live in life's shadow
On the other side of paradise
To survive they beg or borrow
But are always penniless

Cold doorways or cardboard boxes are their home
Onwards to nowhere finds only strife
The penniless prince is forced to roam
Where abuse and mockery is a way of life

They live in life shadow
On the other side of paradise
For them there is only sorrow
And a life of homelessness

Tired and forlorn they look as they travel along
Shuffling their weary way between reality and hell
The queen has fallen the the king lives on
To suffer more too much to tell

They live in life's shadow
On the other side of paradise
For them there is no tomorrow
Only a life of loneliness
