The Ordinary Man In An Ordinary Place Poem by Francis Duggan

The Ordinary Man In An Ordinary Place

Of the highlights of his life to tell he has none
And he cannot boast of the honours he has won
And she is not extraordinary his ordinary wife
The ordinary man leads an ordinary life.

With ordinary children who do not stand out
From all of the other ordinaries about
An ordinary family strangers to renown
Who happen to live in an ordinary town.

An ordinary fellow his needs are quite small
He works and drinks grog and with his mates talks of football
His Government tells him what he wants to hear
On who he should trust and on who he should fear.

The ordinary man waves his National flag
He feels his patriotism is worthy of a brag
One might say he does have an ordinary face
The ordinary man in an ordinary place.
