The Only Immortal Is Nature Poem by Francis Duggan

The Only Immortal Is Nature

Rating: 4.5

The only immortal is Nature she lives whilst all others must die
The monarch, the president and celebrity in truth are as mortal as I
But Nature she lives on forever in centuries and centuries from now
The birds will sing in wood and hedgerow and the wind in the tall trees will sough
Us humans are like Nature's Seasons we come to life and then we go
Into the nothingness of nothing though some they do profess to know
Of a paradise for God fearing people countless miles from this Earthly shore
Where good souls will all be united in joy and peace forever more
But I only believe in Nature though to her I never do pray
The one who outlives every life form in her earthy bosom I too must lay
Our marvellous Earth Mother who feeds us her beauty for all to enjoy
Her wonders never cease to amaze me I have loved her since I was a boy
The only immortal I know of and the one who takes care of us all
And I too to the scythe of her reaper eventually destined to fall.
