The One That Got Away Poem by Kel Rios

The One That Got Away

Like spiders

Reality and
Pragmatism

Creep forth from dark hollows
To tend spun
Dream catchers
and
Silken hope stillers

There is no attributable malice
They are but purveyors of order
In a tangled mass of days, and ideas threatening to be born

...though every so often
An epic vision
Filled with passion
Prodded by urgency
Refuses to surrender

Like the monarch
It wriggles
Struggles
To be free

Like Icarus
It
Lights and soars
Eclipsing

Hedges
Fortresses
And even reason

To be
Just
To be
