The One Blessed By The Luckier Gods Poem by Francis Duggan

The One Blessed By The Luckier Gods

He bets on the greyhounds and horses this student of form one might say
And he wins far more than he loses a rare one who makes gambling pay
He seldom ever bets on the favourite he likes to go for the one at long odds
He is known in the horse and dog circles as 'the one blessed by the luckier gods',
He has proved that not all gamblers are idiots a gambler who wins more than he lose
He likes to go for the outsider ignoring the so called racing experts views
Others have to go to gamblers anonymous in their efforts to give gambling away
But he will not be one to join them since he makes huge profits from betting every day,
Not every gambler ends up losing there's an exception in every case
He mostly bets on the outsider though he does not bet on every race
Most will tell you that gambling is a mug's game but he has proven that adage wrong
He can afford to go to the pub every evening for to drink beer and join in the sing song,
One who makes money out of gambling one might say that his type are rare
As a student of greyhound and horse racing form few with him can hope to compare
