The Old Fashioned Way Poem by Matthew Holloway

The Old Fashioned Way

The old fashioned way
~
I've tried killing my self
the old fashioned way
laying in the sediment of a bottle
and through well thought out mistakes
taken everything I've achieved and built
and cast it aside like the scrap paper
of a poorly writ near half poem
I've drank and made drinking a game
the rules left forgotten in a haze
of a tired morning trying to remember
if there is still anything else to regret
It's self destructive at times
but damn it's addictive to fight
another drink to forget another life
killing it slowly, beautifully and always
the old fashioned way
