The Nostalgia Is In Him Poem by Francis Duggan

The Nostalgia Is In Him

He says he will go back to his Hometown again
And hear the birds sing in the wind and the rain
On an evening in Spring in the park in the Town
Where as a schoolboy with his mates he raced up and down
And whooped loud with joy as they chased the football
The joy of young passion is the best joy of all,
Back there in his Hometown old friends he will meet
He will not be a stranger when he walks down the street
He will meet again Mickey and Kenny and Joe
His best pals till he left some five years ago
To travel a bit and for to live elsewhere
And to see more of life in the big World out there
He's returning to the Hometown not for a holiday
The nostalgia is in him and at home he will stay.
