The Nice Girl Poem by Jennifer Jaeger

The Nice Girl

Rating: 3.5

Will I ever be more than the ugly girl
More than dirt
More than the stepping stone to the pretty girl
Every flaw exposed
Magnified by the beauty constantly around me
Perpetually trodden down upon by greater beings
Kept underfoot by a utopian vision of loveliness
The taste of righteous anger, resentment and jealousy
Each playing their dutiful roles in my bitterness
So I accept my fate as the nice girl
The sweet girl
The plain girl
Giving up any intention of being just once
The right girl
