The Myopic Traveler Poem by James Jones

The Myopic Traveler

The myopic traveler who wanders the roads
With a lazy pace he always does go
A narrow mind he has in his head
Lascivious looking for some woman to bed
This troublesome man who proves quite a burden
Surly will he never procure any guerdon
Yet in his heavy step something doth shine
An upstanding character with sometime once fine
This traveler of burden and traveler of shame
Once had adulation, once he had fame
Love now lost is the cause of his folly
His women he loved with his heart did volley
His vindictive nature is now all that remains
In place of his heart a black void is replaced
Now he travels to forget his past
This tragic fool who's ire shall last
