The Moving Sea Poem by Sandra Feldman

The Moving Sea

Rating: 5.0

The Sea of deep blue fantasy,
Unchained, unfettered, liberty,
The ever sounding, moving Sea,
Sings songs of Immortality,
The Sea perpetually does serve,
A feeling that's forever free,
To go and sail the seven seas,
Discovery, Life's Mystery.

Aloha Sandra... Moves me back to the 70's... and Rod Stewert... beautiful flow and quality use of words to entice a sail or two... takes me away, to where I've always wanted to be Christopher Cross... great memories... thank you profoundly... all of the best from this life, to you, and all of your relations... The moving sea, and moving poem, also. Where's the ship? I want to get on!

In my comment on THE WAY OF VERSE I cited the two images of REACH THE SKY, SAIL THE SEA as symbolic of the journey and discovery motifs. And here is the poem which fulfills such a symbolical dimension of poem writing. It's first and foremost a journey poem taking us on a sea voyage culminating in an awarenes of LIFE'S MYSTERY, and that term is the secondary aspect of the poem, its symbolic dimension in probing the mystery we inhabit. J. Campbell called this THE MYSTERY DIMENSION OF THE UNIVERSE. This is an example of how two poems can speak to each other and enhance each other's meanings.

Dear Poets, I was very moved by all your wonderful comments that brought me great happiness and for which I greatly thank all of you. I must say, however that judging from what you wrote, I missed my vocation. I should have been a travel agent and been able to book a poetical cruise for all you wonderful people or volunteers as Daniel Brick so generously calls you. Sorry I missed that ship, next time around, maybe?

I MUST somehow take a sea voyage to experience first hand whatr your poem provides second hand. I'll even be willing to scrub the decks or do a watch in the crow's nest to pay my way. Then...call me Ishmael, and I'm off to the Seven Seas. Or at least as many as possible. I'm not alone in being so inspired - I read the previous messages below and it's obvious the next ship out will NOT have to kidnap any sailors - we're all volunteers!
