The Moment I Thought I Was Losing You Poem by Mustafa Khairallah

The Moment I Thought I Was Losing You

I thought I was losing you
When you said what you said today
What should I do?
What should I say?
I asked myself
Was it the time to say the truth
Or may I fall off the edge of the shelf
Upon which my secret stood with no shoes
Waiting for the moment of its suicide
So it will not be a secret anymore
After it takes your heart in a ride
And bury it at my heart's core?
But something inside me was to say
'Why should you keep it a secret from her
If it made her cry today
And it may make you lose her? '
I said I didn't mean it
But it was never about her
Though before I didn't say it
It was all about you
I know it is weird
But it is the truth
I didn't know whether it would get you hurt
And I can't get you hurt whatever the cause
But like every truth in the world
can't be changed
Nobody can by a weapon or by word
My love can't be changed
That was the moment
I missed your face more than ever
I couldn’t see you eyes
To what they said
But I knew that my life has changed forever
It became about you
I love you
