The Missing Note Poem by Justice Amoh

The Missing Note

Inspired by a 'departing' friend and the 'Far And Away Theme' by Enya

A bow shatters, a violin squeaks
A tone unheard, the piece incomplete
Assumed crescendos now flattened to mute
The time signature, its very rhythm refutes
The string breaks and the artist sighs
A page is crumpled and added to the trash
Yet another song, lost to a missing note

Inscriptions of a scribe, his failures describe
An unfinished novel, an everlasting worry
What becomes of a painter, should his very brush shatter?
Delicate works of art that denounce their very creators heart
Dreams of tomorrow that sublime right before us
Never ending chapters they all now seem
Yet another story, lost to a missing theme

The days are finally here, the nightmare we both feared
The paths diverge, and so do our steeds
Languages grow more complex, hopes are undone by deeds
All we can, is to uproot and kill our love's seeds
Our book of days is left so incomplete
May our love be henceforth, as it never was
*Sigh
Yet another dear, lost to a missing link.
