“the Mirror” Poem by Munia Khan

“the Mirror”

Somewhere I heard

Of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit

Knowledge, Piety and Power was there

But as I was standing in front of a reflector

I could see none of them

Into the reflex before me

Even Judgment, Intelligence and Wisdom

Seemed to run away

From that polished reflecting surface

Only because it was reflecting me

The only gift left alone was Fear

And the mirror broke into pieces

For it failed to stand for that fear

Between the two of me….
