The Memories Poem by Marla Smith

The Memories

Why is it I find myself looking at the days more and more? ~~ I look over at you on the bed ~~ With your eyes shut ~~ Wishing how much you could stay ~~ I look at the days and night’s and how they merge together ~~ My eyes search heavily in this blue room ~~ All I seem to find my eyes laying on is you lying in my bed ~~ The only thing my heart finds is heart is heart ache ~~ I find myself at the end of the bed putting down the pen and paper ~~ My arms slip around you ~~ I whisper something in your ear ~~ You stir from your sleep ~~ You give me that goofy half awake smile ~~ But I know it is all but a memory ~~ I will get you back soon ~~ I still get your letters that say I love you ~~ The day you come home to fill an empty house ~~ Will be the day I have you back in my arms again ~~
