The Matter Of Water Poem by NITHEESH ANNADANAM

The Matter Of Water

Knowing not what was to come
man wasted water,
His fate laughed at him
as it would cause his slaughter.

The Poison of pollution
licked the water, pure;
It embraced everyone
and had no cure

A tap was left open
A pot bore a hole
The water drained away
with an injured soul

By the end of the century
what was the matter? ?
What was left
was five drops of water! !

DRIP...fell the first drop,
People fought for position

DRIP...fell the second drop,
People fought for wealth

DRIP...fell the third drop,
People fought for food

DRIP...fell the fourth drop,
People fought for the last drop

and DRIP...fell the very last drop
and drained away into the deep bowels of earth...!

When man realized
that there was no water;
His fate laughed at him
and caused his slaughter..
