The Magical Barn Poem by Marilyn Lott

The Magical Barn

Rating: 5.0

If you've ever driven cross country
Stayed off the interstate
The sights you see are such that
It's the perfect decision to make

You must get off that ‘beaten path'
For the magical barn to appear
Oh, my friend, you'll be so glad
For the barns are exceptionally dear

They demonstrate the way things were
Before technology had its way
Quiet and so peaceful it is
You can enjoy them any day

In spring with wildflowers bright
Or summer in sultry heat
Fall with leaves now turning gold
Are such a delightful treat

Wintertime with blankets sparkling white
On the tops of wonderful barns
Icicles hanging precariously
Give them such wintry charm

Whatever season you will chose
Get off the main roads and see
Wonderful and magical barns
They are always such treasures to me!

You're absolutely right, the old hand built barns in the US are reflective of another time and pace of life, Worthy of appreciation before they eventually disappear, 'thou I'm sure many will still be preserved for posterity.
