The Loving Rose Poem by Sandra Feldman

The Loving Rose

Rating: 5.0

Nothing like a Rose,
To show us how love grows,
Flower that inspires,
Beauty Queen, desire,
From her thorny Throne,
Commands to be admired,
Those enticing well formed petals,
Deep red velvet, crimson wine,
Have now first begun to open,
Their exquisite form, divine,
Waiting for her secret lover,
Who will whisper, 'Please be mine',
A Red Rose, remains the symbol,
Of Love, till the end of time.

There is a double Love Story you identify 1) we humans who give roses to our beloved,2) the rose's yet to be lover. In a sense, these are parallel to each other, so a Rose Garden would be electric with these parallel loves as people in love stroll down the lanes of rose bushes and the roses themselves greet their beloveds. What a blessed place this would be. (Lake Harriet in my home town has just such a Rose Garden I will soon visit with your poem in my memory.)

Sandra, you have delicately described the rose in a quietly romantic light, giving it a place of glory in many aspects of love. Deep red velvet, crimson wine - seems to allude to it's heady fragrance. Beautiful imagery! Thank you. RoseAnn
