The Love I Know Poem by Alfred Ramos

The Love I Know

The swirling wind spins me round
The plain truth sits me down
The chain remains unbroken
For the words that are left unspoken
The love I know
Won’t let me go
I could get caught crying in the rain
Trying to wash away the pain
Down the drain
Misdirecting my brain
But the I love I know
Is not for show
Tomorrow will be there no matter what
Dreams by the dozen is what I got
Yesterday’s rainbows are now lost
We chased them but what was the cost
The love I know
Is taking it slow
Like a curtain shuts out the light
My heart strings are drawn tight
Restricting the flow of emotion
Leaving a void of devotion
The love I know
Doesn’t go with the flow
Twisted like a pretzel is my heart
There’s something in me not doing its’ part
My veins are like a frozen rope
Chilled to the bone, choking hope
The love I know
Controls me head to toe
